Autumn 2012

Whilst naturally we are disappointed to say goodbye to Summer, Autumn is beautiful in Hanmer Springs. Now is a great time to visit as the trees start to change colour, and the cooler morning and evenings make way for warm hazy days.

We are pleased to be introducing a Fair Trade selection of in room teas and coffee together with a series of International Food Nights featuring cuisine from countries of our oversees staff, which include Brazil, South Africa, Czech Republic, Croatia, Canada and Poland (see staff profile article).

Wedding Open Days - Sunday 6th and 13th May 2012

If you or someone you know is planning on getting married, book them in for one of our Open Days. See the Lodge set up for a wedding including the garden and restaurant. Braemar supports the Child Cancer Foundation

We are pleased to welcome Mr and Mrs Northmore who were the first of many families to our Lodge, as we launch our partnership with the NZ Child Cancer Foundation and donate a nights accommodation for 4 people, including breakfast, to a family with a child suffering from cancer. We are working in conjunction with local activity providers in the village and hope to provide a welcomed break to a different family each month.

Events

What an incredibly busy summer we have enjoyed. With practically a wedding each week since October the Lodge has been a hive of activity!

We welcomed several companies to the lodge to conference including Westland Dairy Products, Schneider Electric, Greystone Wines, Fulton Hogan and Ravensdown.

We also continue to welcome Collette Vacations (America's largest outbound tour to NZ) who have confirmed they are to include us and Hanmer Springs in their tour series through 2012 to 2014.

Staff Profile - Head Chef, Mirek Karpowicz

We welcome Mirek who joins us from Ireland. Originally from Poland, Mirek and his wife Krystyna (a pastry Chef) now manage the kitchen and have taken Altitude Restaurant to a new level. Come and experience their amazing food and presentation skills.

Mirek was the finalist in the All Ireland Chef of the Year in 2005 and has cooked for many senior politicians and sporting celebrities.

Mirek will be launching his Autumn/Winter menu soon and will be available to download from our website.
